How to Bigspin Heelflip (with Images) – Skateboard Tricks

You can also call it Big Heel Flip and yet again this a pretty difficult trick to learn and you will have to use a decent amount of power to roll away perfectly on flat ground. It can be much easier to try to learn it over the hip on a skatepark but in this case, the landing is a bit different and you will have to adjust some minor tweaks when trying on flat ground.

Anyway, it is a combination of a Front Side Bigspin and a Heel Flip, so you first want to be comfortable with both of them. The foot stance will be the same as at Front Side Bigspins. The back foot on the pocket as you want to send the board into FS 360 Shove-it and the front foot right behind bolts. To help you Heel Flip easier move your front foot slightly forward so your toes hang over the board. Just before you pop, you kind of swing with your shoulders to a front-side rotation so once you hit the pop and start going up you will already go into a front-side turn.

At the same time flick with your front foot pretty hard just like you want to push the board out to start rolling into a heel flip. If your shoulders are turning fast enough the board will easily follow body rotation and if the flick is strong, the board will do a perfect 360 Shove-it Heel Flip. Don forget your body is only doing a 180 turn 🙂

You will probably get the board moving right away quickly, but the landing will most likely take you more time to accomplish. The thing is that you need to find the right angle for flicking the board out to make sure the board will go under your feet and not slip away. Because you only go into 180 and the board is going into 360 you won’t be able to see the last part of the turn and you need to get comfortable with this over many tries to really get it clean.

It looks best if you can catch the board with your front foot before you go down and then just lead it to the ground. Sure you can always fake it a bit and do the landing in kind of a “powerslide” way if you can`t catch the board in the air but this should only count until you get it right 🙂 Go ahead, the trick is yours!
