Another old-school super cool-looking trick to learn and you can try it even if you are not on the highest level yet. The base is an ollie and you can see lots of the late 80s and early 90s photos of people doing Nosebones over the gaps and all kinds of street obstacles. Nosebone is in fact an Ollie with a backhand grab but with your front leg straightened out a bit as you want to karate kick.
To learn a flat ground Nosebone your base is a solid Ollie with a decent pop. No special foot position is needed but your most comfortable Ollie position. You will need to pop high enough to be later able to transfer your body weight.
Take a nice speed and pop into your best Ollie. Just before you reach the peak of your Ollie, grab the outer side of the board right with your backhand. Don`t grab it like at frontside grab but more on the inside, closer to your back foot to let you pull it steeper.
extend your front leg slightly to the front so the nose of the board will follow and the tail will go up.
When you start losing air, don’t try to find the balance on your front foot but simply relax your back leg to go automatically down. You will land balanced because your weight is already on your back truck so land on the bolts with both feet and you are good to go out and make some awesome old-school footy 🙂 Remember to hold your grab as long as possible!
This is the basic flat ground Nosebone but as we said you can do it on ramps and transfers where they look awesome, but Nosebone on a ramp is a completely different level so let`s leave this for the next time.
