How to Feeble Grind on a Skateboard (With Images)

This is a very popular handrail trick that you will see in every banger movie, and the size of the rails that are grinded with the feeble grind is just insane. It can be done on a ledge or a pool, but it looks so much better on a handrail.

To instantly describe what is going on here, we can say that the feeble grind is grinding with your back axle while your front axle is over the rail on the other side. You can surely do a backside or a frontside feeble grind, which will change the side you’re approaching the rail. Many skateboarders say that the front feeble grind is easier to learn, so let`s get into the front side version today.

How to Feeble Grind on a skateboard

First, make sure you have clean front-side 50-50 grinds, as this is the base to understand what is going on. If you can 50-50 grind well, you will need just some minor adaptations, and you will feeble grind right away.

Set your feet in a 50-50 grind position – back foot on the pocket, front foot centered behind the bolts. Get the desired speed and approach the flat bar so that it is in front of you, because you are doing a front-side feeble grind.

Pop just the same as you are trying a 50-50 grind, but don’t focus on a feeble position yet, as you might end up in a boardslide. Focus on doing a 50-50 grind, and just slightly before your trucks start to grind, push your front foot over the flat bar or a hand rail so that only the back truck locks in for a grind and the front truck is hanging over.

Your body weight should all be on your back leg, so it means you just lean to the back leg a bit, but not too much, so you don’t slip off the rail. If you can 50-50, the grinding will come naturally in this position, so extend your front foot to lead the board as far as you wanna grind. You should keep all
the body weight on your back truck until the very end of a grind so as not to slip off. You can spice it up by trying to go out of the grind in the middle of the flat bar, but with these tweaks, you will learn by yourself.

So, if you went through all the steps, you probably mastered a feeble grind already. Remember- more speed, longer grinds :).
