This is a really nice and stylish trick that can blow anyone`s mind if done perfectly. We have seen it done over the gaps and stair sets but the fattest one is for sure done by Carlos Ribeiro over the picnic table…
It is not an easy trick, especially if the switch backside turn is not your favorite but with the right approach and some love, you will get it as any other.
So, the base of 360 Ollies is always perfect 180`s. If you haven’t tried switch back side 180s yet, now is the time to get them clean. Set your feet into the Ollie position and put your body weight more on your front leg so that you won’t slip back. As with regular 180s, it is very important to start turning your shoulders just when you pop, before you start turning your hips. Once you get the peak of the pop, your shoulders should be already halfway to a complete 180 and then you start turning your hips to make a complete 180…
The same process goes with 360 Ollie but, you will need to pop higher and make a faster and stronger turn. Foot position should be very similar to the switch backside 180 but it will help, if your front foot goes a bit more to the center of the board.
Once you pop, you will need to start turning your shoulders into a back side rotation pretty aggressively. This will probably make the board slip off your feet a lot in the first tries so if that happens you can try to put your front foot a bit more to the inside of your board so that your heel is a bit over the board (shown below) to prevent it.
Once you are in the perfect 180 rotation, your shoulders should already be 90 ahead to lead the rest of the body into a 360 turn.
Because you are doing a 360 turn in switch stance, you will also land in switch stance and this can .
give you a lot of trouble and slams so it is very important to keep your weight on your front leg. With some slams and painful hips switch Back Side 360 is waiting for you to show off!
