How to Backside Kickflip (with Images) – Skateboard Tricks

Backside Kickflip or the Backside 180 flip is not a difficult trick for the committed skateboarder and you should get it pretty quickly. We can easily say that this is one of the most beautiful tricks out there and it was done so many times over and over in skate movies on all kinds of different spots and it just never looks boring.

The Back Side Kickflip is combined of the two most basic and most common tricks. These are Kickflip and Back Side 180. If you can easily do both of them, you won’t have any issue with combining them into a perfectly landed bs Kickflip.

Just push into a comfortable speed then set your feet into bs 180 position but place the front foot slightly back, so your heel is hanging off a little bit. You need to control the board with your toes to flip it right!

How to Backside Kickflip

Once you pop you just go into the back side rotation with your shoulders and at the same time press your front foot a bit down to start flipping the board but, not any stronger than you would do with a regular kickflip. If you have clean back side 180s, this should all come very naturally after a few tries.

You will probably hit the ground a few times before accomplishing the perfect landing but this is a natural procedure so just make sure your body weight is not on your back leg when landing and you are safe. After a first solid landing, you will start to feel it more and more and you will quickly progress to stair sets!
