How to Acid Drop (with Images) – Skateboard Tricks

Acid Drop is a trick that doesn`t need a lot of instructions as it is one of the most basic elements of skateboarding and if you skate for more then 2 weeks you probably not knowingly already did it. It was probably a very sloppy ride down the pavement curb and this is not far from a real Acid Drop.

Acid Drop is basically a straight drop of the pavement, ledge, or any other flat surface without using a basic pop. The key elements of dropping from an elevated surface like a ledge are the correct body weight setting, stance, and speed. Your stance should be with your back foot on the tail pocket or even in a center of the tail and your front foot centered right behind the bolts or even on the bolts if you feel more comfortable this way.

Your body weight should be centered evenly on both legs or even a bit more to the front so you have better control over the board.

The final element is speed. You should go just as fast enough to not drown your nose over the end of the ledge as soon as your front truck loses ground. Don’t go too fast either. You need to find the right speed to let you hang on the board straight once the back truck goes over the edge. You must keep the body weight on your both legs evenly as if nothing happened 🙂

And here we go: push into appropriate speed and set your feet and body weight as described above. No matter how high the ledge is, don`t panic when approaching the drop and just make sure your body weight will stay centered. You can try to just go down straight or you can lean and press just a little bit on your back foot to keep the nose straight when dropping and you will land will both trucks simultaneously and roll away like nothing.
So, enough about it! You will face the Acid Drop at your first meeting with your board so let it come naturally and don`t stress with recipes too much!
